“Between Dunes and Water”
This beach house located at ECR,Kovallam 57km south of Chennai, with a privileged view to the sea in the gated community from Palm beach layout, intervention where the integration of architecture and landscape was an important concern.
The client was very clear in their brief: The sea view must be from the most of the rooms, the more important space will be the social area with entertainment of guest as priority, and finally independence and tranquility from the private area. The project is proposed as a volume set worked with different materials and textures in three levels that work together as a unit. The Lower level of the house with car parking and services were raised to 4.5m to achieve uninterrupted view for upper levels.
The middle level is considered as heart of the house with dramatic cantilevered concrete roof and double volumes resulting in powerful outdoor living that ends with the swimming pool as a limit to the sea. All the rooms in the home are highly transparent to take full advantage of the sea view.
The upper volume is with two bedrooms with balconies to take full view of the sea and terraces designed to connect the house with the infinite of the horizon.”
